Copyright & Takedown Policy
Last updated: June 24, 2026
1. Copyright in user-submitted content
Users retain copyright in the reviews they submit. By submitting content, users grant ratemyresearchyear a license to display it on the Site (see Terms of Service). ratemyresearchyear does not claim ownership of user-submitted reviews.
2. How we handle concerns
ratemyresearchyear is a small, independent project. We handle copyright concerns and other content disputes informally and in good faith, by talking them through rather than escalating to legal proceedings. We are protected for user-posted content under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, and we voluntarily review and act on legitimate concerns.
3. Asking us to remove something
If you believe content on this Site infringes your copyright, or you have another concern about a specific review, just email [email protected] with:
- a link to (or description of) the specific content; and
- a short explanation of the problem.
There is no formal or legalistic process to follow. A short email in your own words is enough. We will look into it promptly, get back to you, and remove anything that shouldn’t be there.
4. If your content was removed
If a review you wrote was taken down and you think that was a mistake, email [email protected] and tell us what happened. We’ll review it with you and restore it if it was removed in error. We would much rather sort things out by email than through any formal dispute.
5. Repeat issues
Accounts responsible for repeated, clearly infringing content may be suspended.
